Imbalances in chemicals present in the brain are thought to be involved in causing migraine. A chemical named serotonin is present in the brain and it has been proved that there is huge reduction in its level during migraine attack. It is assumed that fall in serotonin level makes the trigeminal system to release neuropeptides that reach the brain and cause pain.
