What is blood pressure?
Our Heart Circulates blood in Blood Vessels by pinching & systole. Normal systolic blood pressure remains 100 mm and diastolic blood pressure remains 80 mm. If systolic blood pressure goes below 100 mm then its known as low blood pressure. Normally at the time of rest hypertension goes down and at the time of hard work it goes high. Its normal for hypertension to go high and down based on condition but if blood pressure remains low for long time then its low blood pressure. Because of low hypertension body does not get full blood so patient feels unconsciousness.
Blood pressure is the measurement of the pressure in the arteries at the time of activeness and resting phases of each heartbeat. The numbers that show the blood pressure (120/80) mean two different parts. The first one (120) is known as systolic pressure and it is the number that shows the amount of pressure generated by heart while pumping the blood through the arteries to transport to the rest of the body. The next number (80) or diastolic pressure refers to the amount of pressure in the arteries while the heart is at rest at the time between two beats. You can measure accurate strain at any given time, but it is not always same. Measurement taken twice with a gap of two minutes can vary greatly. It varies depending on the position of the body, rhythm of breathing, level of stress, physical condition, medications, food or time of the day. Blood pressure is generally low at night as compared to other times and it rises sharply as one wakes up.
According to current medical guidelines, 120/80 mm Hg is considered as normal hypertension. So, anything less than that considered as ‘Low blood pressure’.
How is hypertension generated?
As said, hypertension is generated by the pressure inside the arteries. The systolic pressure is the pressure that is exerted by the heart in the arteries while the blood is being pumped through them for transportation throughout the body. The diastolic pressure is the pressure in the arteries while the heart is at rest. These pressures are measured in mercury levels. We combine these two readings and get the required blood pressure that is necessary to judge medical conditions.
Low blood pressure symptoms
Blood pressure that is generally considered as low can be the normal pressure for certain people as there is huge variation of the pressure scenario form person to person. If we consider low blood pressure in general, there are certain symptoms which are characteristic in nature. Some of the characteristic symptoms of low hypertension are:
- Irritable / Sourness
- Problem in breathing
- digestion problem
- Feeling lightheaded
- Lack of concentration
- Blurred vision
- Rapid and short breathing
- Cold skin
These symptoms can be the signal for some other disorders as low hypertension is often the warning for certain underlying medical conditions.
What causes low blood pressure?
In general, strain results from insufficient or low volume of blood flow in the body. Now, shortage in the volume of blood has its root in some other medical conditions. Some medical conditions that can cause low blood pressure are:
- Pregnancy is the time when the body goes through massive changes and adjustments. As the woman’s circulatory system expands, hypertension tends to fall.
- Heart problems can lead to low blood pressure as in such situations the heart cannot pump the required amount of blood into the arteries.
- Endocrine problems like thyroid problems or low blood sugar are responsible for low blood pressure.
- Dehydration is the condition when the body loses lots of fluid as compared to the intake. The fluidity of blood lowers the volume and the result is low hypertension.
- Loss of blood means decrease in the amount of blood in the body. So, ultimate result is low hypertension.
- Severe infection like septicemia enters the blood stream and results in lowering the pressure.
- Lack of nutrients in the diet (vitamin B12 and folate) can hinder the body from producing the required amount of blood. Final result is falling low hypertension.
- Certain medicines can also cause low blood pressure.
- Too much fasting.
- Anemia / diabetes / T.B (tuberculosis)
How can low blood pressure be diagnosed and evaluated?
As said, blood pressure varies from person to person and the pressure which seems to be low for one can be absolutely normal for another. For general healthy people, feeling tired, dizzy or falling unconscious are the basic symptoms of low blood pressure. It can be diagnosed by measuring the pressure with certain intervals. To evaluate the real cause of low pressure certain tastings like ‘complete blood count or CBC’, measurement of blood electrolyte, urine and blood cultures, electrocardiograms or tilt table tests give the best results.
Low blood pressure treatment / How to get rid of low blood pressure
Once low blood pressure is diagnosed and the underlying cause is evaluated, the appropriate treatment can begin. Doctors treat the primary cause and the pressure is restored to normal as the disorder is cured. In case there is no specific cause, there is no such effective treatment. The real goal in such condition is to raise the blood pressure. The age, type of blood pressure and health status is to be kept in mind while trying various ways to raise the pressure.
- Take 1 CHINAWARE cup and put 150 ml. water in it. Now take 32 raisins (kismis / dried grape) and put in this cup of water for 12 hours. After 12 hours eat every kismis (raisin). It will be helpful in low blood pressure. Follow this procedure for 30 days for complete relief. Raisins are full of iron so it cleans your blood and body tissues.
- If anyone gets UNCONSCIOUSNESS because of low blood pressure then take 2 tablespoon amla juice and 2 table spoon honey. That person will get CONSCIOUSNESS in few minutes.
- Mixer of carrot juice and honey is beneficial in low blood pressure.
- Gajar ka murabba / murabba of carrot is good for blood pressure patients.
- Take 25 raisins and 50 gm Gram, souse in water for whole night. Next morning eat gram and raisins and drink that water in which you soused gram and raisins. Follow this process for 10 days.
- Eat green vegetables, fruits, milk, butter (ghee) and dry fruits every day.
- Take cucumber juice every day. Mix little garlic juice, holy basil juice and honey. Consume this mixture everyday.
- Mix black salt, black pepper and Asafoetida (heeng) in butter milk and consume every day.
- Asafoetida is beneficial in blood pressure so consume little Asafoetida everyday.
- Mint leaves juice is very beneficial so mix some rock salt and black pepper powder in mint leaves juice and consume.
- Take more salt and sugar every day. Take proper rest & sleep every day.
- Eat 5 tulsi leaves (holy basil) and candy sugar everyday.
- If you feel nervous then eat one table spoon sugar. Take 1 glass milk with sugar.
- Consuming more salt can raise the blood pressure. Sodium is the substance that can raise the blood pressure. It is suggested to check with the doctor before consuming extra salt as excess sodium can cause heart failure.
- Consumption of more water will help to increase the fluid level of the body. It will increase the volume of blood.
- Compression stockings will reduce the pooling of blood in he legs and help to raise the blood pressure.
- Several medicines are effective in low the blood pressure. But no such medicines must be consumed without the consultation of a doctor.
Food for low blood pressure
There is no such food that can be considered as the hypertension booster. One can boost the hypertension by increasing the volume of blood in the body. People having less blood actually need to consume every nutrient so that the production of blood cells is increased. Food containing all the essential nutrients is necessary to boost the production of blood. It is not possible for a person to eat lots of food at a time. So, small and frequent meals are the most beneficial ones. One can choose different varieties of food to be consumed and thus will not get bored due to the similar tastes. Fats, carbohydrates, vitamins, proteins, minerals and fibre are all the necessary nutrients that will result in increased blood production. Taking a balanced diet will surely help to raise the blood pressure.
